Two self-catering cottages

Your own front door

A kitchen, a living room and space to spread out, a few steps from the bar. For families, groups and anyone using Hathersage as a base rather than a stopover.

The Little John has two self-catering cottages beside the pub on Station Road in Hathersage. Each has its own kitchen, living room and bathroom. Both are dog friendly and parking is free. They suit families, groups and longer stays in the Peak District.

A cottage solves the things a bedroom cannot. Somewhere to sit together in the evening that is not a bed. A kitchen, so breakfast happens when the children wake up rather than when service starts. A front door of your own, so coming back muddy at four in the afternoon is nobody else's problem.

What you keep is everything that comes with being attached to a pub. Dinner is a few steps away when nobody wants to cook, the bar is there when the children are asleep, and you are still in the middle of Hathersage rather than down a lane somewhere with a twenty minute drive to a pint.

A look around

Inside the cottages

Two cottages, both laid out the same way: a kitchen, a living room, and bedrooms upstairs under the eaves.

A cottage lounge with a leather corner sofa and hallway beyond

Both cottages have a fitted kitchen, a living room with room for everyone to sit down, and bedrooms upstairs under the eaves. Central heating, television, WiFi and everything you need to make a proper breakfast.

They are comfortable and practical rather than precious, which is the right answer for a place people arrive at in walking boots.

Bedrooms upstairs, made up and ready.
A full kitchen, so breakfast is on your own terms.

Staying in a cottage

How many cottages are there?

There are two self-catering cottages at The Little John, beside the pub on Station Road in Hathersage. Each has its own kitchen, living room and bathroom.

Are the cottages self-catering?

Yes. Both cottages are fully self-catering with their own kitchen, so you can cook for yourselves. You are also very welcome to eat in the pub, which is a few steps away.

Are dogs allowed in the cottages?

Yes. Both cottages are dog friendly, and dogs are welcome in the bar and the garden too.

Are the cottages good for families or groups?

They suit both. Having a kitchen, a living room and your own front door makes a longer stay far easier with children, and gives a group somewhere to sit together that is not a hotel room.

Is breakfast included with a cottage?

Breakfast is not included with the cottages, as they are self-catering. You can book breakfast in the pub if you would rather not cook.

How long can we stay?

The cottages are set up for longer stays as much as for a weekend, which is what most people use them for when they want a base for the Peak District rather than one night.

Or The bedrooms Eight en-suite rooms above the pub, bed and breakfast, for a night or a weekend. Nearby Walks from the door Stanage Edge, Higger Tor and Padley Gorge, all within a morning's walk of the front door.
